The trip out to Seligman is a beautiful one. Seligman is the original starting point of the old route 66 restoration movement.

Another one I highly recommend is the trip on old 66 through Oatman

You can eigher take 95 out of Vegas through Searchlight and through Laughlin and Bullhead, or take 93 south to Kingman and pick up old 66 from there.
This trip alone is worth the price of admission to Vegas.

Or if you want to head north out of Vegas, you can take the trip on the Extra Terrestrial Highway, and hit Area 51 while youre at it.
Dont forget Red Rock Canyon on this loop

Google maps is amazing. I'm playing with your map and I got into street mode... I'm dragging a little person around and I'm simulating my trip! It's like I'm there already. Thank you!

I learned something new today.

Enjoy your trip and your time. Sounds as if your dad and I are about the same age. I laid off bikes for years and finally said bull. Bought a sporty and put 8000 miles on it last summer and 2000 on the dyna. Your dad will know how much is too much. Yeah they may be heavier now but a whole lot more comfortable to ride. He will have no problem

All are good trips, but it might be a bit cold/snowy around Christmas for a trip thru Flagstaff.

Great story, enjoy the time with your dad, whatever route you take. Remember, it is not about the destination, its about the ride!

I pray that both of you have a pleasant and safe trip. May God bless your trip to Vegas.

Lake Meade and Hoover Dam are about a 45 min ride south of Las Vegas and figure a couple hours there doing the tour and taking pictures. I love engineering so it was right up my alley. But the canyon and lake are also beautiful.

Didnt get a chance to do the Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon but I understand they're also only about an hour from Las Vegas. Maybe next time.

Great that you're getting to make memories with Dad. Never had a Dad myself and Mom's been gone for 10 years. Biggest regret of my life thus far has been not spending more time with her.

Great story, can't wait to hear how it ends. I took my oldest son on a cross country trip back in 2005. We came into Vegas via Hwy 93. Would definately not recommend that. Flat and hot as hell with gas stations few and far between.

When it's all done, please post an update in this thread so we will get the notice. The trip I made with my son was priceless. Good Luck.
