A while ago I tried doing a search on the "Foreign" content of Harleys. What I found was they are not required to report or disclose that info. Cars and I believe certain appliances are the only things that have to disclose their foreign content. But just about all the parts that are sold display the country of origin. And by looking at where these items come from it could lead you to believe nothing on a Harley is made here. After my wife dropped her sporty and broke the brake lever, I went to the dealer for a replacement. I was busting the parts guy about all the parts are made in Japan. He tried to deny it , he even unwrapped the lever and threw the package away before he handed it to me. I asked him for the envelope, he didn't want to hand it over because it said printed in plain letters right on the front "Made in Japan". this was a genuine part not aftermarket.

What if its made in America but made by Mexicans?

Or picked by Mexicans?

Or cooked by Mexicans?

Or landscaped, roofed, paved, cleaned up or bondo'd etc by Mexicans?

(disclaimer: this is not directed at any person or persons of Mexican descent that are actually, Americans, just the ones that are sneaking in at a rate of over 1500 per day)

just curious if that counts since a lot of the money they earn, illegally I might add goes back into Old Mexico, also illegally...

Obama better start printing pesos and a whole lot of them because the dollar will soon be worth just about as much

Ford, Chrysler and GM's contributions after 9/11

An interesting commentary...You might find this of interest:

'CNN Headline News did a short news listing regarding Ford and GM's
contributions to the relief and recovery efforts in New York and
Washington.

The findings are as follows.....

1. Ford- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions
of the same number plus 10 Excursions to NY Fire Dept. The company also
offered ER response team services and office space to displaced
government employees.

2. GM- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions
of the same number and a fleet of vans, suv's, and trucks.

3. Daimler Chrysler- $10 million to support of the children and victims of
the Sept. 11 attack.

4. Harley Davidson motorcycles- $1 million and 30 new motorcycles to the
New York Police Dept.

5. Volkswagen-Employees and management created a Sept 11 Foundation,
funded initial with $2 million, for the assistance of the children and
victims of the WTC.

6. Hyundai- $300,000 to the American Red Cross.

7. Audi-Nothing.

8. BMW-Nothing.

9. Daewoo- Nothing.

10. Fiat-Nothing.

11. Honda- Nothing despite boasting of second best sales month ever in
August 2001

12. Isuzu- Nothing.

13. Mitsubishi-Nothing.

14. Nissan-Nothing.

15. Porsche-Nothing. Press release with condolences via the Porsche website.

16. Subaru- Nothing.

17. Suzuki- Nothing.

18. Toyota-Nothing despite claims of high sales in July and August 2001.
Condolences posted on the website

Whenever the time may be for you to purchase or lease a new vehicle, keep
this information in mind. You might want to give more consideration to a
car manufactured by an American-owned and / or American based company.
Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed
nothing at all to the citizens of the United States ...

It's OK for these companies to take money out of this country, but it is
apparently not acceptable to return some in a time of crisis. I believe we
should not forget things like this. Say thank you in a way that gets their
attention..

This has nothing to do with the fact that the Big3 make inferior vehicles that nobody wants. So I should buy a POS truck because they are charitable? No Way.

A simple google search shows that they are made at a Goodyear-Dunlop plant in Rochester NY employing American workers.A lot of Co's in USA have some form of foreign ownership these days.

My point again is as long as the product is built, assembled or whatever in the USA and they employ my fellow Americans I will support them. Some people can dispute everything to death. If you want to buy another tire owned by & built in another country that is your right but don't get on here and bitch to me abought the state of the economy in another thread. We (the American consumer)have always been are own worse enemy.
I won't bitch about the economy but Dunlop tires are for those with very wide chicken strips and they suck on both my Sportster (HD401) and Yamaha (D252) sportbike, which both came with them from the factory. Sportrider magazine did an article in December of 2001 after touring the Dunlop plant in Tonawanda, NY where they build motorcycle, ATV and light truck tires.

I made the switch to the Continental Milestone and Road Attack models and will never go back. Continental has 5 factories in the United States while being based out of Germany.

Modern Forge in east Tn. makes a large portion of the parts for Harley. Fork supports, mirrors, swing arms, battery box's, all kinds of parts. I would guess that besides the tires(and probably made here) its all made in America. Sorry to bust you wish it had jap part wanna bees, bubble.
