Anyone EVER paid less than MSRP?
I'll be buying the old man a bike around the first week of January. I was hoping I could walk in and say:
Harley is down 25-30% in sales
It's winter in Colorado
There are still 2008s on the floor
It's right after Christmas
I have my own financing
And maaaaybe get less than MSRP?

Under MRSP
In todays market i would never pay sticker or above. I live in NW Pennsylvania and they won't deal local , so i started to check around on the internet and found that in Ohio they all are coming off of msrp + deals on shipping/prep. I just ordered a eg classic (2009) and it will be delivered late December. I ended up buying it from Street Track & Trail in Meadville, Pa..They took $1000.00 off sticker and $325.00 off ship/prep for a total savings of $1404.50 The only reason i bought now is Iam going to Daytona for bike week in March, so i couldn't wait to long. If you hold out longer i think you can get a better deal....Free ship/prep....Good luck

Only 750 of the new XR1200 Sportys will be available in 2009. You think dealers will price gouge?

Depends on your location and how many dealers are in the area I s'pose.
A friend of mine bought a new 06 when HD was doing the $2000 off rebate gimick.
The local dealer said that's all they could do so he went to another dealer about 55 miles away and got another $1000 off for a total of $3000 under msrp. Not bad! And that was for a softail standard, not some pricey bagger.

It seems to be more of a function of were you live. I have been doing the same thing in the northwest. I have found no one within two hundred miles to come off msrp plus extra charges. I even was told by a sales manager that he has half the inventory he had last year. So he is going to start charging msrp +. I'm getting frustrated with all the reports of good deals. I have not found one yet. I think time is on our side, but who knows. Maybe they can make enough to stay in business if they just sold a few at (their) price? I do appreciate all the talk in this group about dealers and their prices. Thanks to you all.

Got my Y2K Road King for a grand less than MSRP + $500 credit towards gear.
Guy who originally ordered it backed out at the last minute and forfeited his grand deposit.
I came in looking for a RK, salesman said he had one coming in about 2 weeks and since the guy already paid a grand on it, he'd knock that grand off if I paid cash which I did. The bike below is the bike I got and only had to wait actually 3 week instead of the 2-3 months wait they had back then.
