I wanted to find out what opinions out there.

Short but true story:

many years ago a friend of mine stopped by on his way to Kinston,NC. He shows up with a pair of tennis shoes on. I was like WTF dude take a pair of extra engineer boots I had. While he was only going less then 20 or so miles wouldn't ya know it....before he got to his detination he was center punched gby a cage `and it tore the sole of the boot off. He figures if he'd a had those f'ing t shoes on it would have crushed his ankle or even severed it. He ended up in the hospital for other issues like broken collar bone and arm etc.. It would a been worse. He did have helmet/leather jacket and gloves on.

Thats why folks encourage motorcycle riders to dress appropriately. It only makes sense. You wear shorts you're a moron, You wear t-shoes/flip flops your dumb. tank top; you're stupid. Thats what I think to myself when I see it.

Luckily in America you can be all those things with no impunity.

I rode just down the street in some Chucky Taylor's but with very little tread on them, at the first stop light my left foot slid out from under me on some pee gravel. I almost dumped the bike taht day so I've never wore anything except heavy boots with a Vibram sole.

I always wear steel tip boots when riding, they have already saved my toes.

Hey, those are some nice looking boots (except for the road rash part). What brand are they? Thanks.

Boots for me 99% of the time - when I wear my tennis shoes, I feel very naked.
Twisted an ankle a long time ago wearing them until I wised up. Above the ankle boots now with good soles.

Boots all the time. I wear them when to work every day and look like an idiot because I have slacks and a nice shirts and big ugly boots on. Don't care about the way it looks. Have some western style boots as well that look better, but I like my big ugly looking work style boot better...
