Filled Up With Diesel Fuel

Filled Up With Diesel Fuel
I was riding last week as part of a group and one of the riders mistakenly filled up his Electra Glide with Diesel Fuel. It ran pretty good - for about 2 blocks. Had to trailer it back to a dealer and they got it straightened out. The service manager said it didn't hurt anything - just lubed the motor pretty good. You can't even imagine the ration of shiot he has endured this past week.
Anyone want to admit to doing the same?

Happy to admit that I have NEVER done that but it could be very easy to do.
I used to expect the GREEN cover pump handle to be diesel and recently I have seen them be gasoline so you have to pay very close attention.
We own two diesel vehicles and two gasoline vehicles, the harley, a boat and a diese tractor. I have trained myself to think about what I'm driving or towing when stop for gas / diesel.
Just glad your buddy did not damage his bike.

Ever been to a BP gas station? Their "gas" nozzles are Green, their Diesel nozzles are Black.
I thought there was a law that regulated this.
The only thing that kept me from pumping it full of diesel is that the diesel nozzle didn't fit into the tank.

Have come close to doing that, then the green shroud catches my eye.
Ole buddy had his pickup quit on him once, after towing found out it had diesel in it... asked his wife and... she said she had heard that diesels get so much better mileage that she thought she'd fill up his truck with it.Same guy noticed their grocery budget was cratering and asked wife about it... she said she had started getting all their groceries at "7-11" in the neighborhood so she could save gas on driving to the supermarket. Oh... they're not married anymore.

I've done it. Noticed my mistake before starting the bike. Got to dump 5 fresh gallons of diesel. Glad the price was less than a buck a gallon.

I did it once on an ambulance. Out fleet had one ambulance that used unleaded while over one hundred did not. Fortunetly if was an older ambulance with two tanks, so I flipped over to the tank I did not fill yet, drove it to the shop, and they pumped it. The mechanics said it happens a couple times each week with that ambulance.

I thought that the Diesel nozzle was larger in diameter than the regular gas so you couldn't mistakenly put the wrong fuel in your vehicle.
Even though I have found some Gas stations have "auto" diesel pumps with normal size most diesel pumps are larger. Those that do usually are seperated & not right next to the other fuel pumps to help you out.
If this story IS true, they had to have been "hammered" out of their mind.
99% of stations have the nozzle labled Diesel in great big letters.
