In my neck of the woods, the chrome bikes are the few n far between, the blacked out are the common ones.
This is so true, every new bike maker is making them factory now. And everyone is doing it. I use to love the nightster but now it's just not that hot. I'm 37 now and since my teens have wanted a Sportster,to me it's the perfect bike. I can do anything with mine and have 1 to make a Springer now to. Always have been my favorite, always will. I hope to get an original 1 day to! Most of the younger under 30 crowd I see are on Rockets or whatever they can get cheap or the newest fad bike like a Warrior or something. don't get me wrong I find a Warrior hot but I prefer a Sportster and don't ever plan on owning a Ultra, maybe a Deluxe or RK but it wouldn't be considered a bagger if it's done my way.

Im definitely in the under 20 crowd... Im 22 and I think any bike that looks different from the rest are 'cool'. Im more likely to notice a rat bike then some shiny piece of yuppie bling that you see so much these days. Im actually really fond of the the older bikes... when I see a pan or that oh so rare knuckle, I wanna cry a tear of happines! My newest bike so far is my 84 fxrs (my current ride). I do all the work on my bike (although I usually **** more stuff up than I fix! haha).

I never would consider a sportser just because I see so damn many of em! Don't get me wrong.. they are great bikes, but that is all I see... sportsers and softail deuces. I am actually thinking about stepping up to a softail deluxe or Road king... I like baggers, esp when I see a custom bagger, but Im not ready for the fairing yet. I just want a bigger bike. Baggers are not meant to be 'cool' ... they are supposed to be functional... so when I have the bones to buy a bagger... it will probably only be used for the longer (500+ mile) rides.

Whats funny is I have yet to see anyone in my town on a harley that was under 30 other than me... all the younger punks around here ride ricers. When Im in a group of harleys, Im usually the youngest by about 40 years! haha

Should be interesting to hear from other 'young' riders...
I know what you mean man, going to Milwaukee in August I was the only 20 something in our group. And the only one not on a bagger for that matter. At every stop, I had at least one or two people coming up to me to make sure I could handle it LOL. Those old timers must forget you have a little more stamina in your 20s for things like that...

I will say that somehow those old timers are still good at pullin trim on their baggers!! Lots of nice lookin ladies at functions for that many old guys!!!

This thread made me chuckle all the way through. I started reading it to see what the pups said, and was quickly entertained by the not-so-young. BTW, my boy, who's 33, really likes the Night Train.

You young wippersnappers and your new math and calculators.
Way back when I was 22, that would have put me in the under 30 crowd, not the under 20 crowd.......I'm 54 look and feel 75 and still hate wimpscreens and fenders........but I do need bags to carry my Geritol, hearing aid batteries, Depends, cane etc. But I can count.
