some good cold weather products
bought a couple of items and thought i would share.
took 3 of these items (the socks, the sweater and the fleece-lined jeans) out on the sportster in about mid 20s. was out for about 30+ minutes around town doing speeds up to around 50mph. the sock is a combination from smart wool. and yeh you could do this layer yourself. but these two worked well together. only thing over the socks was a regular pair of red wing boots. nothing over the pants. my feet had no problem. didn't notice the cold. my legs were remarkedly warm the whole time. some air did come up the pantleg. only possible downside was that they are warm so being inside for any length of time and you feel overly warm. the sweater is made out of merino wool and cotton (i had a wool/cotton sweater that i really liked and have been looking for another one). really light and comfortable. i wore this over a t-shirt. then had the FXRG leather jacket with lining. torso was good to go. had a smart wool neck wrap, a thin balaclava, a pair of HD winter gauntlet gloves, and FF helmet. the bike has heater grips. it got warmer during the day - mid 40s. did some work inside and was almost too warm. took off the sweater.
anyway, the jeans were really impressive. can't believe how warm they were. i also picked up the wool lined fire hose pants but haven't worn them yet.
as you can see i like smart wool stuff and stuff from duluthtrading. duluthtrading runs a number of specials and sales so i got these things at a good discount.
just thought i would share.
