Only If they go bankrupt...then the current stock is worthless.

It's a matter of if you think they will actually get to bankruptcy. If they do then you lose the bet but if they don't you may make out real well. You have to get in while everyone else is worried to get the worm.

It GM does go bankrupt, you had better sell anything and everything you've got in the market (401Ks, IRAs ) because it's gonna get killed.

Bankrupty would help GM out greatly but not sure if anyone would be the DIP financer besides the federal govt. Companys that do come out and have restuctured are often left with a work group with a bad taste, both for management and the product they deliver. Often known as zombie companys until someone else merges or takes them over.People still lose their jobs, more is usually farmed out, very little is spent on upgrading, quality goes in the toliet. Its a bad deal for them either way. We the taxpayers are going to pay somehow, someway so do something that works in the end, saves the most jobs and keeps an american company alive.

Exactly. Some auto plants in the US (not the big 3) make money on the cars they make. So their taxes and their non-union employee's taxes will go up to subsidize union workers. That is just wrong.

Be very careful with GM stock. If they don't get some bailout money soon, bankruptcy is a real possibility. The republicans are against a bailout and it doesn't look like GM can make it until Obama takes over. Even if they do get the money sooner rather than later, it could just delay the inevitable bankruptcy.

Like someone said earlier, it's a lottery ticket.

I'm not saying bet the ranch.

What are you going to do, hold onto your HOG stock until it hits $5?

yes, it's a risk but can we really let GM go under? I hope not because then you'll REALLY see a recession. But that's just my opinion.

I'm saying give it a shot, and you may make enough christmas money to buy your wife , girlfriend ( or in some cases significant other) some new Harley Davidson assless chaps.
