Due to the ongoing anti-motorcycle crusade in Myrtle Beach, I'm looking for a new bike week destination for Spring/Summer 09. Anyone been to Thunder Beach Rally down in Panama City Beach FL? How's it stack up to MBBW?

 

We have been the last 3 yrs. to both the Spring and Fall rallys.in P.C.the Spring rally seems to have alot more people then the Fall.All is free With many vendors set up through out the PC area lots of bands and bars welcoming all bikes . Have not been to M.B.though. So not sure if they compare.

TB is getting to be a pretty good rally. It seems to be getting bigger and bigger every year. Couple of years ago for the Spring rally they had to move some of the vendors to a park out off the beach because they needed more room. They're are 4 or 5 different vendor areas and lots places to go and see. Lots of good riding during the day and lots of good partying and bands at night. Make sure you check out a Geneva concert. Prices for rooms aren't too awful bad, but like any other rally make sure you bring plenty of $$$$$. No Harley shops in PC and a few indy shops if you have problems. I had a battery go bad on my my first time down there and finally found one at an indy shop. The SOB charged me almost twice what I could get it for back home. Hope this helps, been there 3 times but didn't get to go last year due to work. You'll have a good time.

 

It is a great rally and there are some hotels that have bars in them such as the Sandpiper Beacon. The Tiki bar there has bands every night beginning on Monday. Its a little pricey but you never have to leave if you don't want to. Also, be sure to check out Miss Newbys and Shuckums if you go.

It wont party hard DEEP into the night, but the event is Great !
Lotts more Bars in Panama City, and the strip is full for Their event in the Spring for sure !

Leesburg just opens up their town for the event, and they are glad to see Bikers and Biker Dollars.
LEO are easy on ya... and in fact cheerful and helpful !
I dig the place and go for Martigras as well.

Thunder Beach is a great rally with lots of good ridding along the coast line. The Sandpiper Beacon has some great bands at the Tiki Bar.
