Default RIF Day tomorrow***Dodged the Bullet (for now)

Tomorrow is RIF (Reduction in Force) Day at my place of work. I will find out tomorrow if I'm getting laid off or not. I have been a manager with this major telecommunications company that you all know of for 9 years. You are told you have to report to your office on this day and wait to be tapped on the shoulder to meet with your director. If your tapped your gone. I go through this almost twice a year, but this time is the worst because the reduction is big. There is no rhyme or reason on who goes..people are selected by upper management.

This really sucks for me. I haven't told my wife how anxious I am because I don't want to make her too worried. I have 4 kids, mortgage, bills and medical issues that without insurance I could never afford.

I have held off on planning any work on my bike this winter until I know what my job status is. Selling my bike if I get laid off will kill me, but family comes first.

This is a great holiday gift from my company. Big comglomerate that your only considered as a number. Money is king

I hope none of my fellow bikers on this forum are ever faced with this dilemma and the choices that have to be made because of it. Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day. But until then...I wait.

Certainly hope you keep the job. I work for a car dealership and things are really slow here. Have not had any layoffs here yet. Not secure in any jobs now.

Hang in there, fella! Hold the family close.

Fox News said an estimated 1.2m workers are likely on the line within the short term.

Good luck. My brother in law works for Ford and could be laid off.

So many of my friends here in Detroit are in the same boat. Sucks! My buddy who could be gone soon from GM actually finds humor in tapping people on the shoulder on Fridays. On the outside he seems calm, but I know it has to be killing him. He has admitted that he will be in big trouble within 90 days of layoff. He will lose his boat for sure and probably his house.
I work for a very small struggling company. We have taken cuts and deferred paychecks. I have been up to 5 months behind in pay at times. I'm hopeful things will work out for my company. But if the Big Three go out, just drop a bomb on us in Detroit.

Hang in there!

I am sorry to hear of your worries and wish for the best for you. My wife and I are in a similar situation, though in our case it is her job that might be on the line.

hang in their and good luck

My thoughts and prayers go out to all that are in this situation. Just remember he never gives us more than we can handle. I often have to remind myself of this.
