Cool New seat questions

I have an '07 DWG, My wife says that she will ride with me more if I get a better seat. I told her that she has plenty of padding but that is a different subject.

What is going on is the detatchable back rest side plates are digging into her butt. This doesn't seam to be a good design. I need a seat with a thicker passenger seat to raise her above the side plates.

If all this makes sense.

I am looking at the Touring and Sundowner. From the descriptions, there doesn't seam to be much difference.

Does anyone have any recomendations?

Thanks for your input.

Default Sundowner Seat

I have a 2006 springer with the detachable backrest. My old lady did'nt like the badlander seat, thin padding. I then tried the tall boy seat since i'm 6'9" tall. Lots of padding for her, did'nt like sitting higher on the bike. Then i bought the sundowner seat. Lots of padding for the old lady, and good riding position for me. I'd recommend the sundowner seat.

I was going to look into Mustang and Corbin seats, but read several good revues on the HD Sundowner, so I got one for when the wife rides with me. There is no way she will ride on my stock SE passenger pillion. The Sundowner is a bit over 12" wide and has very good padding where the passenger sits.

try C&C seats - I've read a lot of posts on their seats and nearly all are extremely positive....

I've read lots of good reviews on the Sundowner seat also, but I don't think it's the best looking seat. Another seat you might want to consider is the Mustang vintage touring seat. I've read a lot of good reviews on it, and it's a better looking seat IMHO. If I rode two up a lot I would definately consider the Mustang.

I went with the touring seat on my Fat Bob. I think your right, there isn't much difference in the two.

The Touring Seat is a bit narrower for the rider than the Sundowner. Both are 12" for the passenger pillion.

Sundowner Seat: Seat width: 16"; passenger pillion width: 12".
Touring Seat: Seat width: 15"; passenger pillion width: 12".

Wife is very happy with the Touring Seat. She wouldn't ride any farther than around the block on the stock seat.
Keep in mind that either of these two seats are going to raise you up a bit higher than the stock seat. Seems about an inch to me.

Wife is pleased with the Mustang seat we bought, so am I. Over 200 mile ride yesterday, no sore butt at all.

I do have a Mustang vintage solo and passenger pillion.

However by just getting a different, thicker, passenger pillion is almost as expensive as a Sundowner and the same price as a touring.

Here is a picture of what I currently have. I do agree about the looks of those thicker seats not looking as good so I plan to keep my Mustang vintage solo until she rides with me.
