Nope. I HAVE joined a couple "Members Social Groups", that I didn't even realize existed until I got an invite to one.

Look on the right hand side of the blue tool bar at the top of the forum. Most of the members start private chat rooms and pm the name of it to their friends so they can log on. I've used it a few times but have never been much of a live chat person. I do IM with a few of the moderators and a few of my friends.
