1980 FXB Sturgis Restoration
#21
I am restoring a 1980 FXB Sturgis. Any pictures of the sides of the bike if any one has one will be greatly appreciated. I have it almost put back together, just some wiring, the oil tank, the ignition switch, coil, primary cover and solenoid. It has straight pipes and I bought the muffler on ebay, but I need the original pipes. Any help from any body would be appreciated.

Hello,
I am the current owner of an all original 1980 FXB Sturgis. My brother purchased it new and I took it off his hands in 84. It has about 27,000 miles on it and is currently looking for a new home. So if your interested, let me know...but the main point of my post was to see if you have the side pictures and decal locations you were needing for restoration...if not, let me know.

I have a set of OEM exhaust headers for your bike. Bought them for my 1981 FXS restoration, but found a brand new set of pipes and OEM mufflers in the Netherlands that I used instead. They are blued pretty bad
but are 100% correct for your bike (they have the cross pipe). If you are interested, please let me know. I do not have the stock OEM mufflers.
If you want to see my restoration, I have a gallery folder that shows the bike when I bought it and the final all stock, all OEM results. I sold it to a collector in Japan (got an offer for it I couldn't refuse).
PM me if you want a list of contacts I used to search for NOS (new old stock) OEM parts for your bike. It took me over a year to locate the correct parts with the correct part numbers.

I saw my first 1981-2 Sturgis between Sheridan and Spotted Horse WY in summer of '82. He was stopped in a little town, I don't remember the name. The bike knocked my sox off. I think that's why I like Dynas, too. Good luck with the restoration.. If there was ever a bike worth restoring, it's a Sturgis.
