bought my first bike brand new in 1982 when I turned 18. 1982 Yamaha RD350. I really loved that bike - would buy it again today if I saw one.

Mine was a 1982 Honda Sabre 750. Awesome V-4 engine, and tons of creature comforts like a digital gear indicator and self-canceling turn signals. Loved that bike, I wish I had kept it.

Not it, but this looks exactly like it:

My first bike was a Suzuki 250 two stroke back in 1974 . Sold it when I joined up with Uncle Sam in 76. My second bike was a Honda 250. sometine around 1984. Gave up bikes when the kids came along. Now that there all in college I'm now enjoying life again. I currently have a 07 Heritage Classic.

My first bike was a used 1972 burnt-orange Yamaha 125cc enduro, in 1975. I was fourteen and my dad bought it for me. I had been begging for one for over a year....but MOM said NO. In the end I just got my dad talking about his youth on both an Indian, and a Knucklehead, and all the fun he had with his friends, and how much of the world he saw. Next thing I knew, he rose from his chair and TOLD mom I was getting a bike!

An excellent example of "Parent Psychology". Those of you with kids at home need to be on alert for when they try to use it on you.
