Arrow first rides

My first bike was a cl-350 Honda, I think in was a 1969 vintage. I wonder if I can find an old picture. This was in 1972. My girlfriend at that time bought it for me for $325.00. We were poor college students. I wish I knew where both were, I'd take them for a ride for old tymes sake...

Technically, my first bike was a 74 Honda 550-4 that was sitting for over 10 years in some guys garage. Paid $100 for it back in 1990. I never had it on the road. I ended up buying a 73 Yamaha TX500 which was the first bike I actually had on the street.

I terrorized Austin TX on a '63 Honda 50. Then there was a pause while I was attending the South Vietnam College of <whatever> but when I got back to the World, I bought a '69 Norton 750 Commando. That was my introduction to IDS (yep, '69 Nortons had the same sort of set-up).

a 1960 something moto morini, it was my moms bike. I was about 12-13 yo. I cut my biking teeth on that and I was hooked ever since. I couldn't take her on the main roads but there was plenty fire roads and dirt pipe lines cut thru the forest though.

Had a Norton Atlas for awhile I liked it. I've always had a Harley since I got my 1st in 69 and have had many, many different 2nd bikes as well. Always wanted a Commando but never did get one. Maybe one of these days I'll pick up one of those nice yellow ones that someone else has restored.

I liked the old Atlas too and yep, the yellow version became the icon for Commandos. That kind of surprises me since black w/gold pinstripes was the most common choice back then but indeed, that yellow version really stands out nicely doesn’t it.

I bought a 250cc BSA back in 64 for $250. Can't remember what year it was, but probably a 58.

My first bike was in 1970, a Suzuki AS50, the same as shown.
