what is the best racing platform to start with?

If it were me I'd pick up an old ironhead, go thru it with a fine tooth comb then take it to the track. they vibrate like hell but your only going 1/4 mile at a time and can be gotten pretty cheap which would be perfect for a once in awhile bracket racer.
