I'm still looking at your avatar. What was the question?

Oh yeah. Hey, gotta cut the strings sometime. I can't imagine what went thru the minds of fathers when they saw me take off down the street with their daughters on the back of my bikes. And this was when I was 16 years old. Especially when they sometimes saw how I rode when I was alone.

Well,

I think you mighta answered your own question, you said he was an AA dirt-bike rider that was good and had been riding most of his life......as someone who has raced dirt bikes, in my opinion, the person one bump below nobody that she could ride with would be a good AA dirt rider that had been riding most of his life......those guys don't just fall out of trees, they just have to be old enough and mature enough not to be SQUIDS.........

Sidewalk flyin' beneath my bike
A five year-old's first taste
Of what freedom's really like
He was runnin' right beside me
His hand holdin' on the seat
I took a deep breath and hollered
As I headed for the street

Chorus
You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Oh, I think I'm ready
To do this on my own
(It's still) (It still feels) a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I'll be okay now, Daddy
You can let go

I was standin' at the altar
Between the two loves of my life
To one I've been a daughter
To one I soon would be a wife
When the preacher asked,
'Who gives this woman?'
Daddy's eyes filled up with tears
He kept holdin' tightly to my arm
'Til I whispered in his ear

(Repeat Chorus)

It was killin' me to see
The strongest man I ever knew
Wastin' away to nothin'
In that hospital room
'You know he's only hangin' on for you'
That's what the night nurse said
My voice and heart were breakin'
As I crawled up in his bed, and said

You can let go now, Daddy
You can let go
Your little girl is ready
To do this on my own
It's gonna be a little bit scary
But I want you to know
I'll be okay now, Daddy
You can let go
You can let go

As the father of four girls (all married) I understand your pain..
My only daughter is getting maaired in April. I'm trying to figure out how I can do a toast with any dignity when I can't even read something like this without crying like a baby. Crap, maybe I'll just skip the wedding. NOT!

I don't think your question is silly at all.
As a Dad, my first prioity is to protect my kids. Somethings I can control, somethings I can't. However, I always let my feelings and concerns be known to my kids. If they make a mistake (and they all do - just as we did) at least I took the time to say what I needed to say.
Just becasue the hubby was a great "racer" doen't mean he is a good defensive driver and if he's toting my daughter around, he'd better be.
No, she's 26 and you can't stop her from doing what she wants to do. But you can certainly tell him that if your daughter get's hurt because of his stupidity, he's going to have something else to worry about.
Good luck brother. I feel for you.
