As the father of four girls (all married) I understand your pain..

 

I have one child. A 13 year old daughter. She is my life. I can understand how you feel. I am not sure how I would handle that. All we can do is hope we raised them to make smart decisions and watch them learn the lessons of life. I think she is in good hands though if dude used to race.

 

Depends on your opinion of her husbands riding skills as to how you feel. On the other hand since she's 26 yrs old it really is not your call. Cut the cord and worry over something you do control. On the other hand I admire the fact your daughter and son in law are anxious to spend time with you.

 

I would hate it. Definitely would need a helmet and the correct clothing or I would bash the bike with a sludge hammer.

 

Last year, I needed to take my bike into the shop. Called my 82-year-old mother for a lift from the mechanic shop. I left my helmet in her car. When I got to the shop the next day to pick up the bike, Jeff handed me my helmet and said "your mommy stopped by, said her daughters bike was here and she wanted to make sure she had her helmet!"

We've all had a good laugh over that, even now when I take my bike into mechanic!! I love my mother, how cool was that??!!

You will ALWAYS be concerned about your daughter...surrender to that. It's OK, just don't smother her with worry!

 

The hardest part of raising kids, is the "letting go" process.
Hopefully she married a man that will take just as good care of her as you did.

When I was looking for my bike my father-in-law, who also rides, was here for a visit. While talking to him about it over 1 or 24 beers one night he said to me "I know there is danger in riding, but I know you love her and will watch over her like I always have. So if you two want a bike, get one, and maybe it will bring as much pleasure into your lifes as it has brought to my life." I thought that was very cool and kinda fits to your situation also, I think.

 

I'd be nervous to its only natural my little girl is 14 and I.m glad she dosn't like to ride, but she is definetly in good hands he's probably a great rider.
