I'm not sure but I think after the H.D group bought the company back from AMF, Willie G was made head of the design dept or something like that and a couple of things he did was design the skull and #1 logo to give harley a new, more radical image to set them apart from the old AMF ones.

Anyway, I think that's how it went,

Buyer beware on this ebay auction, its the sellers first sale, I would verify who the guy is before anyone makes a purchase. There's so many scammers out there.

The other one was stolen and presumed to have been sold for parts. I believe the ones in the Reading Museum are reproductions.
Forty-five motorcycles will be exhibited including two of the most famous of all time: the Captain America chopper and Billy Bike featured in the 1969 film, Easy Rider.

So.....you're saying the Reading Public Museum is, shall we say, "exageratting" a little in their advertisement.

Im pretty sure one of the 2 original Capt America bikes is in the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA. Along with a signed pic of Peter Fonda certifying this bike as 1 of the 2 original bikes built for the film.

I think what you have in that eBay listing is a relatively illiterate seller, attempting to say he built a bike after the Easy Rider bike.

Note also that the description says it is 88 cc's in size.
