Not everything is cheap in China

Yeah, when I was stationed at Kadena (Okinawa), had I taken my 1980 Low Rider over there and sold it, I could easily have gotten $15,000.00 for it. And I only paid $5,995.00 for it. Back then, 1980, the largest bike you could buy from a dealer, over there, was a 750cc bike. Harleys brought a high price!

When I was in Thailand in the Army, guys would try and trade you about anything they had for authentic Levi's bluejeans. I ended up trading away 2 old pair and getting about carved statues/carved horns that are worth about $400 back home. From what we were told, owning something American made over there is a big status symbol.

My father always used to say, when something did not matter:
"What does this have to do with the price of rice in China?"
Buy a pair of Harley boots for $7 in China......so what? The girl next door made them for you.
Is China free? Can they ride their $38000 Harley freely?
How many Chinese (living in China) are online?
I think it was covered in the press during the Olympics that China restricts internet access.
As soon as we pay off our Chinese debt.....we will be free again! (I know....dream on)

Hey guys!
I live in Thailand and bought a streetbob 07 last october, couldn't buy from the dealer--too expensive, ended up buying from a Thai that imports them (broken down to avoid the higher import tax 40%) from Japan paid 590,000 baht=$16,500.
I had to pay cash cos foreigners can't get credit. But if I was livin back in the states or Ireland I'd have bought on credit and probably paid close to what I paid here
Gotta pay another 85000 baht=$2,400 to get it legally registered (green book and plate)I just saved the money to do that next month.
Already done 10,000 kms and paid the cops off twice 1st 200 baht=$5.50 and 400 baht =$11 bucks not bad eh. But if theywanted to be complete ******** they could confiscate it, so its better to pay to have it registered plus I wanna take it to Malaysia and Singapore

Amazing isn't it, when you hear how the U.S. has a bad rep around the world. Yet many countries want to be like us, have our ****, want our image. I've seen pictures of people in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, China and others wearing American clothes.

Then they need to quit feeding them so much rice, the poor bikes weren't designed for it. They'll end up looking like sumo wrestlers.
What do Harleys burn?
Lard?
Lardy Davidson?

I am in Shanghai right now, visited the local dealership yesterday picked up a few T's. They do take American credit cards (rare in China). The shop had about 15 bikes, they dont rent bikes anywhere in China. Wanted to rent on for the weekend since I am stuck over here over this weekend, Driving or riding ere is treachorous, very very dangerous, I live in Miami and travel the world a lot, this is the most dangerous place to be on the road, like Colombia times 3. Very nice people here, very Capitalistic,as much or more than the U.S., transparrency is an issue in business though, seems we have the same issue on Wall Street these days also. Both shirts say made in the US, VF Images, they look to be same quality as the ones I buy in the states. Will be visiting Hong Kong HD and Bangkok HD over next 2 weeks, pick up T's from there also. One funny shirt I saw had the Chinese flag inside the logo, thought about getting it but thought better about the reactions I would get riding in the states. The bikes tend to cost double at the shops I have been to here in Asia, Singapore is triple from what I remember.
The shirts cost 280 RMB ($35 US) short sleve, 320 RMB ($40 US )Long Sleve, Nice shop overall, little smallish, very nice dustomer service in Chineslish.
