Who Checks the oil in their primary?
I'm just curious, how many people actually pull the cover off and check the primary oil? Seems to me if you go to all that trouble you should change it.

Yeah, well that makes sense if the oil was getting out. But I have read several threads one here and two somewhere else that said to check it every couple of thousand miles. Just didn't make sense to me unless you have a leak otherwise wouldn't HD put a dipstick in the primary?

I like to check mine every so often, the new gaskets can be reused if you're careful ( even though they say don't reuse) never had a problem reusing them 1,2, even 3 times. Hey it's only 5 screws and something to do on rainy days.

KB, I agree with you and others. If you have to check the primary I would change itor if you have a seeping I would find out where it's leaking.

I am going to change mine this weekend, I have a little leak at the inspection cover, either the gasket is backwards, it is too full, needs a new gasket or, I guess I need to try flipping the cover over.........it is really disruptive to ahave that damn little leak[:@]
