Cornering question (almost went down)

counter steering is how you steer the bike. Press left to turn left, etc. There's also the quick counter steer for an evasive manuever, but you need to countersteer to properly negotiate a turn, except at slow speeds. Maybe its time for some people to take a refresher course.

If you are going to het the twisties really hard, get a sportbike. Harleys are dogs when it comes to cornering. They are designed to go from one bar to the next mostly in a straight line!
I love my Harleys but I do not push them into corners hard. That's why I have a ZX-14 in my stable.

Prior to getting my sportster I had a Suzuki GS750L which I cornered hard hot and often. When I transitioned to the sportster, the first time I did that like on the Suzuki on the sportster in a corner, she spun out from underneath me? Luckily I was only going maybe 35+. I just adjusted not to corner like I did with the suzuki on th esportster and it never happened again. Good for you for pulling it out on time.

total bull****. And the ZX-14 is a sport-touring or rocket-touring bike, not a sportsbike - any decent 600cc will beat you handily in the twisties, although you'll pull in the straights.
Ride it right and a hog can do plenty fine in the corners, and is most definitely not for just going to the bars. You just don't know how to ride one.
