As long as it's legal, and they have the ability to ride, only they should make that decision. We all know what the hazards of riding a bike are ... and we choose to do it anyway. Having a handicap won't alter our ability to ride. Heck, I know guys that have 20/20 vision ... but are terrible riders! They panic easily and are often much too easily distracted.

This is a choice we make. An adult, fully informed decision.

I got an eye infection a few years back that caused me to have double vision. I put a patch over the infected eye and continued to ride. It was difficult until a became accustomed to the limitations. Your friend has already compensated for the limitations. Ride on!!!

I'm legally blind in my right eye with 20/40 in my good eye and 200/40 in my lazy eye. Only thing I can't get is my CDL because of it and lost a very good job with waste managment because of it back in 1989. Oh by the way never had an accident because of it and i've been driving for 40 years now.

My dad lost his eye at around 25 years old and he road off and on till a couple years before he passed away. he did not stop rididng because of the sight problem but other health issues. Your friend could ride but has to be extremely more aware of his surroundings and have his head on a swivel at all times

I'd be more worried that he is a newbie than having lost sight in the one eye.

My father is blind in one eye (football injury) and has been riding HD's since 1966 and still does. He said it is something you get used to so I guess it hasn't been a problem so far. I say go for it.

I think he should ride. I agree with most on here he should take the MSF class. He would know fairly quickly if it wasn't going to work, and he would only be out 125 or so if it didn't.
