See it every day, it is outta hand! Many threads have been started about this and some states are passing laws. I can only tell you that you have to be the most defensive one out there and when you let your gaurd down you will end up hurt or worse! You are lucky it was just a tap, glad your OK!
Almost all the "close" calls (no pun intended) I've had has been when a driver had been on their cell phone.

Having lived in one of the first states to pass a hands free cell phone law (NY)I hate to say it but it doesn't work. Initially, there was a vast reduction in the number of people using cell phones while driving but after about six months, when everyone watched LEO's driving by in marked police cars talking on their cell phones, they started right up again.

Like has been suggested it was more of a bump than anything. I was just irritated as hell about it as well as glad it didn't happen at a stop light while the idiot was doing 60 in a 30 jabbering away.

I posted the answer as best I can above. I've put 200 miles on it since yesterday will no problems.
