Question safety an argument for louder exhaust?

Except dressing for the crash:dot helmet, gloves, jacket, strong pants
etc..does a louder exhaust system contributes to more safety?

I'd say a definite yes. I've been in my car going down the turnpike and there were a few times when I used alot more caution changing lanes because my car has a couple of blind spots, and hearing the exhaust coming up behind me made me more aware of the rider.

Well, this topic has been hashed and rehashed many times, but for me I say yes. In close traffic, a couple of blips of the engine is more intimidating than the puny horn.

I believe that some cagers will try to bully a motorcycle, but not a "biker." I try to dress and sound the part.

I can't begin to tell you how many times my Rolling Thunder pipes grabbed the attention of someone or some animal about to do something stupid and stopped them in their tracks.
Many times all it take is to clutch and let em scream to turn heads...........Good Luck

Just got back from a 100 miler and used the pipes no less than half a dozen times on this ride alone to get the attention of drivers in various situations. Did I have to? Don't know and don't want to find out the hard way.

I'd say yes for sure, being loud gets you noticed and getting noticed can be a real good way of avoiding being cut off by the idiot who 'never knew you were there'.

I agree totally....I've been in the blindspot of cars momentarily, and I could see them looking all around to see where the sound was coming from....
