Home made quiet baffles

Home made quiet baffles
I can't imagine that it's all that difficult to do this. I have the V&H slip ons, and I'd like to take the crackle out of the exhaust tone. If there is some one who has done this to their baffles and wouldn't mind sharing the info of how they did it, and weather or not the result was good, I'd appreciate it.

I've done it and fiberglass didn't work for me. Mine are V&H big shot longs but same principal. If your engine is stock, you can go down to an 1 1/2" baffle opening, if it's hopped up, the magic number seems to be 1 3/4" opening. Best way to do it is go down to your local muffler shop and get 4 reducers (pipe I.D. to 1 1/2" or 1 3/4" I.D.) a few inches long (shorter the better really - more packing) drill holes for the pipe fastener (retaining bolt) and weld a nut inside of the reducer to hold the finished assembly inside the pipe... then make up the screening with approx. 1/4" open mesh rolled into tubes (remember the length is determined by your pipes - the longer the baffle the better. Then weld the mesh tubes to the reducers and wrap them with muffler packing (Royal Distributing sells this as well as other specialty shops).. wrap the packing with .025 stainless mig wire to hold it or you can also use that sticky drywall mesh type tape (fiberglass) ... install... done.
Or you can by the V&H quiet baffles for $30
