I am not sure if this will catch on but who knows.

An automated motorcycle wash. You can read the news release here.

I just never thought it was a good idea to wash a hot engine/header pipes.

Is that a myth or is spraying cold water onto hot engine parts no big deal? I know the rain gets them from time to time but a direct spray of cold water on the rear header just seems like a problem waiting to happen.

The bike wash is just 10 miles from me so I may ride down there and see if anyone is using it. I would like to see it in action but not on my bike yet.

Pine Tree's thought on water on a hot engine could be a valid concern. I would like to know how that factors in.

A lot of those touchless car washes "recycle" the water. So it's possible that the water taht just came off that muddy jeep in front of you is being used to wash your bike.

I saw this on American Chopper. I think it was Paul Sr. that partnered up with some car wash guy to develop. They did mention some sort of pre-wash to cool the bike down first. Sr. pulled one of his scoots right in and had it washed. Of course I am sure he could afford a new one if it broke something....LOL.

Gota believe research was done in this age of litigation....

Just got back from taking a look at it. Saturday morning, 10AM, sunny day and it was closed.

From what I could see it looks like you ride up a small ramp and put your front wheel in the chock. There were straps there so I guess they or you snug down the back end. Looks like you leave it in neutral and the ramp is sort of like a conveyor belt it it turns your wheels to clean them.

Harrolds is a well know car wash manufacture around these parts and I would liked to have seen it in action. I will keep checking from time to time.

As to the recycling of water the two major automated car washes here do recycle the water but the run it through a filtering system, or so they advertise.
