2009 Ultra Classic leg roast?
I'm leaning towards this bike, however I read alot of posts about the heat in stop and go traffic roasting the legs. I've heard the 2009s have a feature that reduces the temp if it gets to a certain point, however are there any aftermarket add-ons that help reduce the heat even more?

Couple of things to consider doing anyway:
1. Get the 'no fried thighs' shields from the vendor sponsor whose ads appear in this site. These are great! This is heat deflection.
2. Get a stage 1 done (air cleaner & computer flash).. or another quality tuner. This is heat abatement.
The Stage 1 will put a nice performance grin on your mug anyway.

Rats!
I thought this was going to be about some new H.O.G. dinner ride, like with turkey legs and leg of lamb, etc. exclusively for Ultra Classics.
Now I'm hungry.

Roasted *** & upper legs nearly ended bike riding for me regardless of the number of folks that didn't notice a "heat issue" with the 07 & later bikes; good for you. To have to modify the F/A settings or add additional heat shields is a design defect IMHO. Anyway, MOCO added the heat shields on the 09 models; maybe they notice this defect too, I believe.
I purchased the clear Sadle Shields (#1197) from Kuryakyn & installed same in less than 30 minutes on my 08 dresser.
In meeting 2010 EPA requirements, MOCO leaned out the fuel air ratio which causes excessive heat for most. It was a nightmare for me. I removed the lowers and that wasn't enough to abate the heat issue. The bike reduced the idle rpm & ran on only one cylinder when it got too hot. This feature saved the engine from overheating but not the operator, IMO. my .02

From what I understand on the 09s with the 2-1-2 exhaust it helps with the heat on the driver and passenger alot, along with the idle temperature function they added that shuts off half the engine (or whatever it is...)

Are they running hotter than the 06's? Probably, but most people don't notice the difference....then again, a few do. It's fixable if it bothers you, but I've run my bike pretty hard and never found it to be that much worse than any of my other bikes.
