I rode this route a few years ago at night from Reno to Ely. I have never seen such a beautiful sky full of stars. The stars looked close enough to reach out and touch. One of these days I am going back in daylight to see what I missed.

Looks like it's enough to drive a boy from the mountains crazy! I hate straight roads! Would try it if I had the chance though....

I saw an ad for Hwy 50 in the inside cover of Hog Tails last year and contacted the Nevada Commission of Tourism (goggle them) and they sent me a "survival guide". It was a map and a booklet explaining the hiway. In the booklet was a place for an official stamp in five different towns. Some were the CoC or museum, etc. We went thru on a Sunday and got our stamps at gas stops. We went from east to west and my bro did not have a booklet. At the second stop, in Eureka, the lady at the Chevron had extra books and even stamped the one my bro missed. The hardest one to get stamped was at Fallon. Try the convience store on the left as you first enter Fallon.
