Thunder in the tunnel ride review
If you were not there, you missed a great ride. It is being called the largest turnout of bikers in Southern Utah history. The day started at 730am as the wife and I arrived at Zion Harley Davidson to help SUHOG set up to handle registration and staging. At 945 I was finally able to look out at the street and ajoining parking lots to witness a sea of bikes, my god it was awsome to see how many showed up. Last year they had 175 bikes, this year a record 265 bike with 350 riders. This was the third annual tunnel run and its growth has stunned those who put it on. We left the dealer at 1013am and made our way to the IMAC Theatre for final staging before entering Zion National Park. Park personel were great in handling such a large group visiting. SUGOH volunteers were on the overlook filming the bikes as they climbed the switchbacks enrout to the 1 1/4 mile long tunnel carved into the mountain as well as filming us exiting the tunnel, there was audio equipment in place to record the sound in the tunnel all of which will be put to DVD and offered for sale sometime in the near future. What an awsome sound.......Halerys echoing in a rock tunnel, wow!! the day proceeded from there like most all other poker runs with Zion HD suppling a dutchoven lunch which included chicken, potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, and peach cobbler for dessert. Then it was on to stop 4, finishing back at Zion HD for cake, raffles, poker hand awards, and live music.
I was rather busy as a volunteer so I didnt get to many photos my self, but I will post what I got and invite anyone close enough to mark you calenders for next years ride, it was a great experiance for me to be part of.

RE: Thunder in the tunnel ride review
When I was in Zion in 04, my friend Pam and I were stopped about half way up the switchbacks taking pictures, and we looked around and saw a really perfect arch up high in the side of the mountain. I exclaimed what a wonder nature was to have carved a beautiful and perfect arch in the side of a mountain. After entering the tunnel we found out that the perfect arch was a window into the tunnel, put there by man. Needless to say, we had quite a laugh over it!
So, what's the story on that, I not sure tunnels usually have windows.
