tire pressure monitor - anybody use one

Not sure if he is right or not, but some vehicles have them as a warninh light only. They don't give you current TP in a readout, but if it gets too low the light will come on. Check your manual.

these are showing up on the market for motorcycles
an automated electronic tire pressure monitoring system
some doo hinkey gets put in the stem of the valve tightened down
then there is a display where you can set the high and low of the tire pressure
if the pressure is not within that range, then you get a flashing light and a beep
seems neat
but then again i am a gadget guy
cost appears to be like 150.00 and up

I don't really see much use for them on a bike unless you have a constant slow leak. For $150 though (+ the batteries it takes to run these things), I think it would be smarter to fix the leak.
I do like it on my Corvette though.

I'm serious man. This is gettin friggin ridicules. I know we're supposed to "go with the flow" and all that **** but give me a break. What really pisses me off is the way the Motor Co. caters to this type of ****! I know they're in business to make $$$ but damnit, There are allot of us still out here that kept them afloat when everybody else thought they were history. All these new guys that are gettin into Scooters cause it's the "in thing" or to save gas will dump em in heartbeat if the japs or germans come up with a seat that will scratch your *** for you or some other silly ****. Or if J-LO starts riding a Vespa they will all run out and sell their Harley so they can get a Vespa just like J-Lo.
Where was going with this anyway? Gettin old sucks..

Naw, being out here on the road and not being able to ride makes me grouchy and saying dumb things has just always kinda come naturally.

yeah,
but do you have the tire pressure checker, checker???
That is really where it is at!
gotz ta have one to check the one getting checked!!!
Seriously, I have one that came in my BMW (M3). It is just one more stupid thing to go wrong (matter of fact, the stupid car is already sitting in my drive with some sort of undiagnosible charging gremlin).
Not to mention it probably added a grand to my bill ...
Meanwhile, my Ford truck, and my HD are both going strong! Old skewl like

I know this is an old post, and I agree the $150 for the tire pressure monitoring system is more than I would want to spend. Also it doesn't lend itself to laced rims with tube.
Again we all should be checking tire pressure on our bikes, every time you go out to ride, but really how many of us really do that? I have to admit that I don't, maybe every couple weeks or month.
I found these on the internet, Tire Pressure Indicators,
http://www.accupressurecaps.com/Low-...re-Caps-Single
They indicate at 5 psi below the set pressure point. No they don't alarm you while riding, no they don't alarm you when you walk up to the bike. Yes they require you to visually inspect them, are they fail safe probably not. Are they better than getting on and riding without checking anything, I'd say yes and at under $4 per tire.
Ok, so indicating 5 psi below set tire pressure is too much of a difference and you would like to know when it's 2 or 3 psi below. buy the next higher set point, say you are looking for 38psi, buy the 40psi indicator, fill your tire to 38psi, and when the tire pressure get down to 35psi, the indicator shows yellow.
Anyone using these?
