I have a handicap placard on my bike I have COPD and steel plate holding my left leg together along with a subluxing left knee, I carry and use a collapsible walking stick in my saddle bag. Just because I have a hard time walking doesn't mean I can't ride a motorcycle.

I dunno, alot of people misuse the plates and hangers and it really makes me angry. My dad has one foot (lost it to gangrene in Isreal when he was 23) and he qualifies. But he won't get one.....he'll tell ya, "Why the hell would I use it if I can still walk?"

Well, I've learned something here today. I guess there are a lot of handicapped motorcycle riders that can't walk very far. I must live in a sheltered world. I think it's great you folks are still able to ride.

Most of them wouldn't have near the problems if they weren't so damn fat.

I ride with 2 guys that have emphysema. On has a HC plate and the other doesn't. They don't go far without resting. The one that doesn't have the HC plate needs it more than the one that does but is too proud to get one for his bike.

Gypsylady......please understand that I'm not sayin you don't need a Handi-cap plate......just an observastion...and it may be unfair......But in Colorado, you can only get plate or placard if you have difficulty walking or need a cane or some type of aid to move......

Saw a guy riding the other day that had two prosthetic legs, looked a little strange and kinda cool at the same time. I thought it was awesome that he was riding, he was wearing shorts so I think he was pretty proud and wanted people to know that. Good for him!
