There are a ton of great helmets out there. As with anything else you will pay more for the name. However, if you like it and it is comfortable then buy it. Do a search on helmets. I am sure you will get a lot of info.

The HD label always adds to the cost. I believe HJC makes most if not all of the MoCo's helmets. My first helmet was a HD 1/2 Destination and it remains my favorite.

If it's DOT and you like the way it looks and feels, buy it. Price won't be that much different. Fit, comfort and looks are most important imo.

If you're like most you're probably end up with 2, 3 or more helmets anyway.

if you look on the hd website they usually tell you who makes the helmet at the very end (to help you in using the sizing chart online). then just look at that helmet manufacturers website and find the same helmet for a lot less!!!

As with anything, you pay for the big name.

i bought an HD helmet.. and regretted it later. Only because i wanted a german style one for cheaper online, but it still remains one of my most used helmets.

Check the pricing for helmets at Chicago HD, I haven't found any HD helmets cheaper anywhere (yet).

I have 4 helmets, 1 full face, 1 3/4 and 2 half helmets one of which is a Harley. I wear the Harley half most of the time until it gets real cold then I switch to a full face.
The Harley is not the most expensive of them but the fit and quality are top notch.
Go with a Harley helmet if you like the fit and finish ...... they are excellent helmets!

I have a HD helmet and like it but if you want a superior helmet buy one that has dot and snell certification. Snell is superior protection and will cost more. As long as the helmet is dot approved, you can buy a helmet that's just as good and cheaper than HD.
