I have a HD alarm / immobiliser and siren that came standard with the bike from new - I was tempted to add the pager till my stealer said the distance was a about 300 yrds and was not worth it.

It works really well and as its factory fitted no messing with the wiring. The best part is it significantly reduces my insurance costs.

Gotta say its well worth it overall - it won't stop the determined theif but it will mean I am insured.

The HD alarm is what I have. I will upgrade to the siren. I have had a bike stolen not a feeling I wish on anyone.

I lock my ignition , even if I park at my house to run in and out for thirty seconds , its quick and easy , and with the alarm fob on the key ring , they wont be able to start it , even if the ignition isnt locked ..

Just a habit I have , but if someone is determined they will get the bike ..

Gonna get the audible added , I think its only abt $80 or so ..

Comes as standard in the UK.
Can't get insurance (at least not at prohibitive price) without it

If someone wants your bike, they'll get it. I like to think my alarm will help prevent a crime of opportunity. I don't always lock the forks. The new key fob set up kinda sucks.

i read that, it also comes with a siren when sold out of the us. that part kinda stinks.
when i asked the question of worth, i was not to clear, to me there is a great worth in having a alarm. but is the hd alarm on a 09 for 345$ worth it.
after reading all the posts here i know i want one with proximity, motion, sound and maybe a pager? i believe i can add those features to the hd alarm?

My alarm was $325 , so I am guessing you will get what I have , two fobs with the alarm , no siren ..

You'll want to put your own personal code into the bike , the manual tells you how , it's pretty easy , you use the turn signal switches and read the code on the odometer ..

It arms automatically when you lock the ignition ... Maybe even when the fob is ouyt of range when you leave the bike , I dunno cause I always lock it .. the lights will flash a couple times and if you move the bike without the fob nearby the lights will flash ..

I have the HD systen audible and pager and only lock mine if it is going to be an over night thing. Also I see that other people on here have to arm their system where as mine arms itself when the fob is more that 10 feet of the bike. All that said good insurance is the best system.
