Default Rear belt life!

A lot of you want to convert to chain for reliability. The secret to belt life is maintainance,Period!! Keep it adjusted (reach down and feel the tension every so often).Several of my friends all running belts, with motors from 80" to 155" including my 155"never give it a thought when the urge to torture the rear tire hits. Not one of us has ever broken a belt, and the pulleys are not worn beyond needing replacement. One of the bros, has over 40K on his with original belt and pulleys, and nobody pounds on a machine like he does.Food for thought!

I changed the belt on my Heritage at 95K because I was taking a trip. When we inspected it after it was off it didn't really show any signs of wear! I love my belt drive.

Reaching down and feeling belt tension can be subjective. Use a belt tensioning gauge if you're not sure.

Reliability and chain don't even belong in the same sentence. That belt is the best thing that ever happened to motorcycles

And washing machines, and vacume cleaners and air compressors and the list goes on

LOL, right. You show me someone, anyone, who ever got 95k out of a chain. Make it easy, and show me someone who ever got an honest 10k outta one before it was stretched to the point it took out both sprockets and either broke or fell off.

Agreed,I had shaft drive in the past and like the belt better, lighter, simpler, cheaper to replace and just as reliable.

No one can really argue that a chain is better, can they? My 07' is the first belt driven bike I've owned. I changed out my rear tire at 9200 miles, and my belt shows no wear, and was still adjusted correctly. I had not adjusted it since the 1000 mile service. I ride hard, and I had to adjust the chain on my shovel frequentley. I don't miss a chain at all!
