Default Sturgis Rally 2009

I plan to make the 900 mile trip from Calgary, Alberta to the 2009 Sturgis Rally. Been there a couple times but never during rally week. I don't know if I plan to camp or do the hotel/motel thing. Any of you folks care to share some experiences, recommendations, prices, horror stories etc.

Thanks

next time I will plan to stay in deadwood, I stayed in sylvan Lodge this year. Had to ride up Needles every night to get back to the hotel. Never got the chance to tie a few on the way would have liked to. I had a great time though......

I stay in Rapid City. Plan on hotel/motel rooms costs being at least twice the normal rate.

I stay at the Chip in a tent. Cheap and in the middle of the action. I can sleep the rest of the year.

If you plan on camping, forget about more than an hour or so of sleep each night.

You're not drinking enough.

I stay at the Chip in a tent. No problem sleeping or finding shade for my tent.

If you wanted, you could sit in front of your tent with a cooler full of beer and watch the whole circus go by.

I'm heading out next year for the first time too. Already planning. I want to stay at the Chip. I'm planning on going alone 'cause all my friends are either boring, unreliable, or just can't be away from their families that long. Oh well, Cya ya guys there!
