Going on deployment- buy now or later?

RE: Going on deployment- buy now or later?
Hey, I am in the military also. On my last deployment, I had a buddy purchase a Harley Fatboy from AAFEES(they deal directly with harley). He was able to save $2500. But the bonus part is he was able to get financed through Harley while he was deployed. It was a simple process with no hassle. I think all that was required is that you had some sort of proof your overseas. So a copy of your orders will work. Hope this helps.

Wait. I was going to buy mine through military sales but found the same deals at some local dealerships. If you buy now & finance it, you'll have to have some type of insurance on it. Whether it's a full coverage or a storage insurance rate it will still be money pissed away. Patience is a virtue, wait and save up your tax free dollars. Winter is usually cheaper to buy a new bike. You may actually get a better deal on the same type of bike since it will be a left over. Stay safe.

Original Junior- you're right! I didn't even think about the insurance aspect. That solves it. I'll hunt for a new one when I get back in December. Plus I'll keep researching all the cool things I can do to it, like a 95" engine kit for 100HP etc.

Definately wait until you get back.
Not only will you save a few bones on insurance but you won't lay awake at night thinking about your lonely bike sitting in a garage somewhere. That would be just cruel.

Wait
I agree with most and would wait. Aside from half year insurance cost savings, you lost money on the value of the bike youre not using. Although this bike will be gone in December, will be others and dealers usually a little more anxious in December than April.
Good luck on your deployment
