loud stock mufflers???

I did it to the stockers on my Wide Glide. Remove them from your bike. Place them in a bench vice, clamping on the mounts. Get yourself a 2" hole saw. Cut through the welds on the ends of the mufflers as deep as you can go. Take a pc. of pipe, and place it in the header pipe side of the muffler and tap out the baffle. It'll take a little bit of brute force to break the rest of the weld the hole saw couldn't get. Place them back on the bike, windex the smudges off of them, Now, your bike sounds like a Harley . I ran like this for about 2000 miles and I got numerous compliments on the way my bike sounded. I added a set of Xides, and it did indeed make the bike run a lot better. Also worth noting....I just recently replaced the mufflers with a set of V&H slip ons, with the standard baffles. They are WAAAAAY louder than the modified stock mufflers I took off, and no noticeable gain in performance.

Not tryin to hijack the thread but wanted to reply to jaysonL.
If you replace the stock baffles with the "quiet" baffles you'll see an increase in performance in the low and midrange torque AND they have a lower note so you don't get that raspy nasty sound like you do from the stock baffles. If you're easy on the throttle they're not too loud. If you give the wick a good twist people will notice you. Either way, they sound much better than with the stock baffles.
I now return you to rodriguez8727 original question. Other than punching the baffles there isn't much you can do to a stock muffler. Personally, I'd recommend against it but that's just me.

I wouldn't do it on any touring bike after 06. We punched one set at the shop (on an 07), but because of the sensors they sounded like crap. Save yourself the heartache, get a set of Bub/Rinehart or Vance & Hines slip ons (with slip ons there are no other mods to do and you can always add the head pipes later to turn them into true duals....although, true duals won't necessarily give you better performance)
