Damn. I just ordered a new vertical plate mount a few days ago. I wonder how strict they'll be?

Silly law..., mine's vertical and it's just as easy to read my plate as a car's plate when it's flipped on it's side in a ditch.

 

Use to live in Kalif. so I know what you mean. Now I'm in AZ where I don't think anything is illegal.

 

I've got friends who have gotten tickets for vertical mount.

 

I left Kalifornia in 1989 it must be in a law book some wear
i think the Leo has the option not to ticket
My Brother in law told me it was ticket back then
i am now in FL it will be a ticket. My car trailer has it on fender vertical tag office told me when i had the vin re verifyed do to there mistake in typing

 

Wisconsin is a green light on the side mount lic.

 

Illegal in PA and almost a guarenteed ticket.

 

Illegal in Prince Edward Island, Canada but they don't push it unless your doing something else to pull you over for.

 

I'm assuming that it's like the situation with safety inspection stickers (home state rule governs), but even if your state OK's vertical plates I would bet some LEO's in states that don't allow it would pull you over. It's something that's readily visible to the LEO even though he/she might not identify which state plate is mounted.
