I love mine....started with 12.5", but they where not tall enough..added 3.5" risers....16" total..perfect for me.......I'm 5"10"....hands are about shoulder height in normal ridin position but if I sit up real straight and tall then shoulders are higher....law in some states....

 

can't imagine riding with any thing but apes
have done 600 mile days with men and no bad stuff happened
and that is on a softail std..
16 inch on one inch risers just shoulder high
get some you will love them or hate them only two kind of people when it comes to apes...
been riding with them 50+ years

 

I feel that apes aren't for everybody but I like them. Mine are 16's and I find them more comfortable than stock. I've gone on several trips and no problems with fingers, hands, wrists, arms or shoulders, plus I also feel that they give the bike a 'cool' look.

 

Ok, so it looks like comfort is not an issue, but what about handling. Is it harder to keep control of your bike with your arms that high? At slow speeds or starting and stopping some times I get slightly off balance and have to pull of push on the bars to get equal it out. If the bike starts to get away while stopped it is hard to get it balanced again?

 

hAD 16S ON AN OLD SCHOOL. vERY COMFORTABLE ON THE ARMS AND HANDS. NO SLEEPING. ACTUALLY, THEY WERE MORE THAN THE STOCK BARS ON MY ULTRA. BUT THE SEAT AND SUSPENSION IS BETTER THAN THE OLDSCHOOL. DO IT AND ENJOY. HANDLING IS JUST A MATTER OF GETTING USED TO THEM. YOU CAN TURN SLOW AND TIGHT, EVERYTHING ELSE IS THE SAME 9COUNTERSTERRING) JUST AT A DIFFERENT ANGLE. IF YOU HAVETHE BARS REALLY ROLLED FORWARD, IT TAKES A LITTLE MORE EFFORT.
