I believe you should go to a dealer and ride both of them to see which one works best for you. If you plan on doing any two up riding and don't want to outgrow it, you're probably going to end up with the SG. I've owned two Sportys and I think they're great bikes, but the higher riding position always made me nervous, especially in the wind or with two aboard. I also think they're a might cramped for two up riding.

As one previous poster noted, you'll probably end up outgrowing that Sporty and trading it in for a BT of one sort or another. It's been my observation that most of the used Sportys I see at Harley dealers, especially 883s, were owned for one year or less before being traded up for Superglides, Low Riders, Fatboys, Heritage Softails, etc.

Ride 'em both, but I have a feeling you're gonna end up with the Super Glide.

Well open up your wallet. If a lot of two up riding is in the mix, your wife is going to be wanting a tourer before long! Unlike the Sporty, the SuperGlide is good for an occasional two up trip, but is not in the same league as the big tourers.

I just went through this a few months ago.

I liked the Dynas but wasnt sure how much I would ride so was seriously thinking of getting a Nightster since it was cheaper. I liked the looks and only being 5'7 I figured it would fit me good.

A buddy of mine bought a 08 1200 custom so I took the opportunity to take it for a ride. It rode good for me and I really liked it but I could just tell I would want something bigger very quick.

I ended up with a 08 Superglide and I am very happy with my decision. I looked at other Dynas but for the extra money I figured I could mod the SG the way I wanted. The SG does come kinda of plain but that just makes fixing it up more fun. Its coming along nice so far and its been fun adding the mods myself.

IMO the SG is a far more practical bike especially if you are planing on any two up riding, the sporty will fine if you are just looking for a daily commuter.
