Gorilla.

I was working with another guy at a customers house. We were installing a phone in the dining room and she wanted the jack behind her china-buffet. I moved the loaded buffet by myelf and my co-worker called me a big "gorilla". It's been with me for over 31 years.

My '08 Heritage goes by Amy-Jo, 2 of the prettiest ladies I've ever met!!!

 

I'm "Il Nano", which in Italian means "The Dwarf", because I'm 6'6". Obvious, isn't it?

 

I've been called "Funk" since my Army days. It started out as "Funky Cold" because my last name (Massena) rhymes with Medina and our instructor used to sing that "Funky Cold Medina" song everytime I walked in a room. He started calling me Funky Cold Massena and so did everyone else. Over the years people have used every variation of the name, i.e. "Funky Cold", "Funky Cold One", "Funkster", "Funkmeister", etc. Most people just shorten it to "Funk".

 

I grew up with a great group of friends in Lubbock, Texas and when we were in high school we all decided to learn to sail at Lake Possum Kingdom during summer break. I really got into the training and the nautical terms. After the first day, we were all sitting in the cabin drinking and getting loaded (some of them smoked pot). I got really tired and sort of drifted off but I apparently tried to stay in my seat. One of my best buds said "Mark's listing starboard" and it stuck. I also answered to "*****" for the rest of the weekend. We all still stay in touch after over 20 years.

Ive been called Zip since I was a kid. My father bought me a turtle and he kept taking it back to the store because its legs would be gone and he'd get me another one. He finally came home from work one day and saw me racing it across the carpet like a matchbox car. He called me mister Zip after that.

That, and I have the attention span of a 5 year old. Im fine with it, other than it makes my wife angry.

 

I never really had a long term nickname, but everyone calls me something different. I've been called

herkamer
big D
hotrod
and most recently, black cat, because I guess I'm bad luck...
