HD rain suit is the way to go, extremely well made just for a motorcyclist and looks very respectable.

Will pick one up for me and the little lady when I pick up my bike. For me it's one of those things I'd rather have and never need, as opposed to needing and not having.

I have a $20 folded rainsuit from Target in my saddlebag. Eventually they wear out and I buy a new one. They're better than getting soaked but it's not a big deal. I've ridden with and without. I prefer with.

I used to comute year-round in OH, and had to dress fairly well. A rain suit was a necessity. It served double duty as a windbreaker over normal winter clothes. A good windshield was a big help as many suits wont seal perfectly without one. Not a big deal on a joy-ride though. But boots full of water and a bonechilling cold arent fun even when its fairly warm out.

Any is better than none. Wrap a dew rag around your exhaust leg and that keeps you from melting.

i bought the $100 hd one and have been happy with it. don't know about other rain suits, but the ones designed for motorcycles have "helmet friendly" hoods. i have used mine while wearing the helmet and it worked good and kept the water from running down my neck.

i have used mine in sudden downpours, all day showers, etc. have been totally dry during any of these.

i figure its like american express, don't leave home without it.

Mine is a HD rain suit. Pants are suspenders, boot cuffs, and the inside leg has a special material that CAN"t melt on the pipes, not sure what it is made of but it feels like a chemically treated canvas.
Plus they can be used to keep you warm if a cold front comes in
They also aid in night time visablity if you need that as well.
Oh ya they keep you dry too.

I have the packable HD rain suit and HD gaiters. They keep me nice and dry in the rain. I really hated getting soaked, and after about the 3rd time getting caught in the rain I when out and bought it. I rode in the rain for 4 hours Friday evening, and the only thing that still got wet is my gloves. I'm about to invest in some rain gloves. I was wearing a backpack Friday, and it was soaked along with what was inside, but the rain suit kept my body dry. The gaiters were a must have for me. The main thing that bothered me in the rain was the rain would get in my boot and my socks would be like sponges.

I think it's worth it.
