Yamaha VMAX
customer just dropped this off into my shop a day ago, we are going to overhaul the engine and rebuild it from the ground up to restore it.
but the more i look at it the more it seems like harley stole the idea for the VROD... i mean it looks like the same deal! but this thing is a 1985, so its pretty old compared to when vrods came out
did harley actually copy the thing to make it?
and this things got a 1200cc V-4 that makes 150 HP stock, does vrod even match that in stock config?
just curious guys, looking to get some interesting feedback.
and by the way the vrod looks SO MUCH BETTER, this thing is cramped as all hell.

The VMax is a great bike, unbelievably fast and uncomfortable as hell.....but a blast to ride for a couple of hours. It is a good seller for Yamaha, but not huge (compared to the Road Star and VStar), so I doubt if Harley was looking at it as their benchmark, when they were designing the VRod. In fact there are early articles that compare the VRod to the Mean Streak and the Road Star Warrior. Against those two bikes, the VRod holds it's own very well. The 09 VMax puts out 197 HP, so no, the VRod isn't as fast, but it wasn't suppose to be.

Sam, you really need to make some castings of your wife's legs and make some table lamps out of them! I'd buy one.
