Default Training Wheels

I was just out in my truck and while I was stopped I noticed a bike stopped going the other direction. It looked like a dirt bike, and it kinda looked like it was a trike. When the light turned green, I looked at the bike and, lo and behold, the wheels that I thought were for a trike were actually training wheels (I guess that's what you would call them). The dude looked to be in his 50's and the bike in a 250-350cc size. I'm glad to see anybody ride, but that just didn't look right.

I have saw a couple of bikes in my area that have them, I guess that way you can enjoy riding without worry of tipping over. A small step for man-kind.

I have seen some metrics cruisers that they decend from the saddlebags as you slow to a stop..then go back up as you begin to move.. Pretty strange stuff..

I think many people who have the training wheels or Trikes have a physical limitation that does not allow them to ride 2 wheels. Bad knees, amputation, bad hips, etc. I ride with several people in there 60's and 70's and some have the conditions I mentioned but still like to ride.

I've heard about them but never seen them. Seems to be a dangerous thing (unless retracting) for turning.

guy at my works has someon his goldwing. they are mounted on a sway bar type thing so that they pivot up and down so you can turn. does not look to bad. his wife wanted them so she would feel safer on it.

Also saw them on a Goldwing. An older fellow had them because he wasn't able to hold the bike of for long periods of time. Cool idea that allows people to continue riding even after a few physical limitations.

I'd rather go to a trike.

The training wheels are out there. I think I saw them in the new 2009 catalog that arrived the other day.
