+1. Heel shifter's the first thing to go.

 

my heel shifter fell off shortly after buying the bike so I just left the POS off.

 

I started riding when there was no such thing as a heel shifter and I could never, ever use one. It just doesn't belong. Had mine removed before it left the floor.

 

I took my heel shifter off a couple of years ago. I wanted the maximum room on the floorboards, so I could move my feet further back and forth.

This happened to me in Canada over the Summer, came up to a stop light with my woman on the back, was able to break it loose right before hitting the point of no return. I couldn't believe I prevented the fall, but luckily I did. I will be taking the heel shifter off soon.

 

i caught mine putting the kick stand UP.

was sitting in nuetral, clutch out, front brake on.

toed the kickstand up, and caught the heel shifter with pants leg on way up., pulled the bike into first gear.

Squeeled the tire & died.

was about 6 people watching. took us a while to figure it out.

 

That is why no boot cut or bell bottoms are suitable for riding a motorcycle, save those for rodeo nights, glad nothing happened to you.

I removed my heel shifter on my '02 Fatboy. Personally I would rather do all my shifting with my toe. A friend of mine had warned me about getting my pants leg caught on the heel shifter, so off it went.
