shoestrings - NO!
Went for a enjoyable ride yesterday and wore my sneakers. They are new and have long shoestrings. When I tried to put my left foot down at a stop sign (guess what) my shoestring caught on the foot peg and I started falling to the left. I managed to get the foot loose and stop the bike from falling all the way. Bent my peg only. Scared the h... out of me. NO MORE SHOESTRINGS!

Glad you recovered and didn't drop the bike. I always have issues with the britches leg hanging up on the footpeg. I would prolly get my toes hung in the shifter/brake pedal if I went barefoot.

Happened to me once: didn't drop the bike, but got why bikers wear boots. Only boots for me on a bike, now.

I have found that tying a double knot will shorten the shoe strings. Works for me. Try it and find out.

**** happens, but it sure aint gonna keep me from wearing comfortable footwear in the heat.
hmm my winter boots are lacers too heh <shrug>
My tenni-shoes will get hung on the gear shift peg, occasionally, I'll have to reach down and stuff the laces into the side of my shoe.
