Default The new Harley full face helmet

I was on the hd site looking at the helmets and saw a new full face helmet with a skull theme to it. I want a full face for cold weather but maybe I will wear it all the time if it is comfortable. The helmet says its modular and I dont understand what they mean. Is that the kind that the whole chin flips up. I might just have to take a ride to the dealership and have a look myself. So what does modular mean?

That's what it means. I always ride with a full face now and I find mine very comfortable. the lighter the better so keep an eye out for weight.

yup, i've seen it and it looks awesome. I just dont like wearing full face helmets that much. Modular means that the front face pulls up completely, basically turning the helmet into a 3/4 helmet. Then it slides back down again to turn into a full face.

How do those modular hold up in the event of a wreck? They have enough tension to keep the chin piece down?

No modular has been able to get Snell certification yet. There are 3/4 helmets out there that are Snell certified. Schuberth makes a 3/4 with a quarterback-style movable chin bar if you still want bugs in your teeth.

they are locked into place. My shoei seems pretty solid once locked.

I have the Nolan modular and while I like it for those cold morning highway trips it is heavier then a regular full face. I also have a 3/4 and just ordered one of the Harley Kevlar Carbon 1/2 helmets which weighs like 1 pound!

What I don't like about the modulars is the shield part seems to not be as wide as on a regular full face. I tried wearing it on a cruise down Lake Shore Drive and had to pull it off as I lost too much peripheral vision to be safe.

I only wear my full face when it's cold or raining. Got caught in a thunderstorm last week with my 1/2 helmet and couldn't barley see at times. Freakin' scary. Wish I had my FF with me that day.

Just saw that helmet this weekend, it is awesome. I have a 3/4 with flip up face shield I use when I don't want the dog bowl. It is a good compromise.
