Default which bike is better?

I am looking at getting a bike. I have never owned one before and my wife and I are wanting to start riding. We are looking at the sportster 1200 custom or a softail custom. We are wanting a bike that has a smooth ride for the back person. Would one of these bikes be good for the back person or should we look at another bike. We will do long trips and weekend trips as well.&nbsp\\;Thanks for the help

The Softail Custom is better suited for riding two-up. It's got more seat room, better suspension and more power than the Sporty.

I love my 1200C, but to be honest the wife may like the custom better. Good luck

Your application needs require something in the touring line. I own a Custom,and although a great ride, the bagger guys will be walking more upright at the end of the day on a really long haul.

Rethink your whole plan. I would find a used Heritage or touring bike from the start.&nbsp\\; If you really plan short trips riding 2 up you will be disappointed in your choices. My .02

Another vote here for touring...especially for long trips. They all have air shocks on the rear &amp\\; much more comfortable seats. Had to trade a much loved Dyna Wide Glide due to the wife being miserable on the back.

I agree with most here, look at at a Heritage or tourer, as her being comfortable is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

I too agree with the touring. I really recommend you and your wife plan a demo day. Ride them all, ride 2 up and then talk about the bikes you liked best.&nbsp\\; After you agree on 1 or 2 bikes, go rent them for a weekend.&nbsp\\;
