It's just another example of the Pussification of America. Your loud pipes "might" offend someone, so they are illegal. Yet I get offended when I hear people speaking Spanish in America, and that's perfectly legal. It's the way the country is headed, and it's not a good direction at all. If the EPA keeps up with their crackdown on motorcycle emissions, it won't be long before it's illegal to modify or change a stock exhaust system in any way on a new bike no matter what state you live in.

BTW, just so you know, I think it sucks and would never right a citation for that unless the guy was running around cracking the throttle every chance he got. I'm one of the few that believe louder pipes can make idiots in cages know you're around.

Actually, the EPA and DOT rules ARE federal. Not State.

I've had 3 helmet tickets and 1 pipe warning here in california past 5 years.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Helmet ticket starts at $110 and doubles each time.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Last one cost $440.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Took my Thunderheaders off and put my Samsons back on.
PIA but it's cheaper than going to court and fighting.

Life is way too short to put so much energy&nbsp\\;into this. I agree with- "Pay the ticket, learn from the experience, and move on.

I disagree. Pay or fight the ticket is his choice. I would probably try to fight it. I would check the law and gather evidence according to the standard if there is a standard. Look at the cost . Then I would hire a lawyer. If we prevailed in court I would publicize it with any means possible and anyway possible. This appears to be heavy handed enforcement. I would never just roll over and say punk me.

There is nothing to fight, it's against the law to take off a DOT exhaust and put on a non-DOT exhaust.&nbsp\\;

A lawyer would tell me that. The advice I pay for usually is worth more than the opinion I am given.&nbsp\\; You could be right but I don't know that and DOT stickers on helmets have been successfully fought in states so why should a&nbsp\\;DOT stamp on an exhaust not be something that could successfully be fought in Florida.

We need a few more Andy Taylors, and a lot LESS Barney Fifes!&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Way too many Barneys in the LEO business.
